You can catch my column, "My Side of the Meter," in Diabetes Health magazine -- rants, raves and what it really feels like to live with diabetes, and some of my other articles on their web site.
Forecast magazine, from the American Diabetes Association, will have my story, "To Pump or Not to Pump," in their Reflections column in their July issue.
‘TALK like a DIVA’ are profiles of women taking charge of their, or a loved one’s, diabetes. These stories are part of a series sponsored by Novo Nordisk and 'Makeover Your Diabetes,’ the national road show empowering women to both 'glow and grow' through learning to manage diabetes. Two featured stories:
You can read Judith and Darlene's stories of how diabetes has impacted them at Everyday Experts, Stories of real women living with, or affected by diabetes.
Judith. A 63 year-old poster child for physical fitness. Since her three-week hospital stay at 17 when first diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, Judith hasn’t stopped moving. She takes aerobic dance and Tai Chi, bicycles and walks sixteen miles on Sundays. Never thinking she was athletic, Judith’s can-do attitude is inspiring to all.
Darlene. She gets her husband to take his diabetes seriously. Darlene is bold and brassy, a vocalist by profession and a true diva for getting her husband to take care of his diabetes. Diagnosed with type 2 at 44, he spent the first five years ignoring it until Darlene insisted he get back to the doctor. When the doctor said, “I already see some eye damage,” he got scared straight. Kudos Darlene.
Still, one of my favorite articles that first appeared in the JDRF newsletter, Love and the juvenile diabetic.
