Here's an interesting service I've just read about in my regular Diabetes In Control newsletter, Diabetes Response Service. This emergency response service has been newly launched in the U.S. and Canada for diabetics. Apparently how it works is the service will give you a daily call and if they can't reach you, they'll call your designated contacts, or call for an ambulance.
An interesting proposition and a possible life-saver for single people, many of whom I know are fearful they may experience low blood sugar in the middle of the night. Of course I'm not sure what happens if you have severe hypoglycemia at 2 A.M. and they call you at 9 A.M. I trust you work that out with them. Of course, maybe an upgrade in service involves sending over someone to sleep with you. But you didn't hear it from me.
